This policy describes how we handle information collected through the DatePals marketing site, waitlist, and app. Section 1 is preliminary; a fuller policy is in progress.

1. 1. Preliminary notice

   This Privacy Policy is preliminary and will be updated to reflect our full data practices and legal review. A revised version is in progress. Last updated date is shown at the top of this page.

2. 2. Who we are

   DatePals is operated by MaroonCat LLC. This policy describes how we handle information collected through our marketing website, waitlist, and the DatePals mobile application.

3. 3. Information we collect (overview)

   We may collect: account and profile information (e.g., first name and last initial, approximate age or birth month/year, gender and orientation as you choose to provide, photos, bio); contact information (email, phone); event and matching preferences; survey responses; in-app activity; device and log data (IP address, device identifiers, app version); and payment-related metadata processed by our payment processor (we do not store full card numbers). Identity verification may involve government ID and biometric comparison processed by our verification vendor.

4. 4. Waitlist and marketing site

   When you join the waitlist on this site, we collect the phone number you submit, approximate signup time, and any optional context you provide. We use this to notify you about access and product updates.

5. 5. How we use information

   We use information to operate and improve DatePals, authenticate users, process payments, facilitate events, communicate with you, ensure safety and integrity, comply with law, and enforce our Terms.

6. 6. Third-party services

   We use service providers that may process data on our behalf, including: payment processing (e.g., Stripe); identity verification and fraud prevention (e.g., Persona); content moderation for photos and text (e.g., Sightengine); cloud hosting; analytics; and communications (e.g., SMS or email). Their use of data is governed by their terms and our agreements with them.

7. 7. Retention and deletion

   We retain information as long as needed to provide the service, comply with law, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Certain verification-related data may be retained for a limited period consistent with our policies and vendor practices (for example, identity verification data may be deleted after a defined retention window except where we must retain information for safety or legal reasons). You may request access, correction, or deletion of your personal information by emailing privacy@datepals.com or support@datepals.com. We will respond in accordance with applicable law.

8. 8. Cookies and similar technologies (website)

   Our marketing website may use cookies, local storage, or similar technologies for essential functionality, preferences, and analytics. You can control cookies through your browser settings.

9. 9. Sharing

   We do not sell your personal information for money as defined under applicable U.S. state laws. We may share information with vendors who assist in operating the service, when required by law, or to protect rights and safety.

10. 10. Security

    We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

11. 11. Children

    DatePals is not intended for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

12. 12. U.S. state privacy rights

    Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, delete, or opt out of certain processing of personal information. To exercise rights, contact privacy@datepals.com. We will verify your request as required by law.

13. 13. International users

    If you access DatePals from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States and other countries where we or our vendors operate.

    We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on this page and revise the “Last updated” date. Material changes may be communicated as required by law.
